15.01.10 - TGC on BBC1 and back on the road in January

If you're twiddling your thumbs this Sunday lunchtime before digesting your cabbage and gravy, you can catch us on that well known music melting pot - The Politics Show - live on BBC1 at around 12.30pm. If for some inexplicable reason you're not tuned in and are otherwise occupied with your gourmet bisto granules, you can still watch it on the BBC iPlayer for another week.

Meanwhile, we're back on the road next weekend, kicking off the year in Shropshire and Herefordshire, before rumbling up for a few days in Cumbria and Durham in February, returning to the homelands of sunny Birmingham for a Birmingham Jazz gig at the Polish Club on February 27th.

      01.11.09 - November gigs moved to 2010 ...

Due to Sam's clever antics in tearing muscles and ligaments in his right shoulder, we have had to re-arrange all of our November performances for dates in early 2010. Big apologies for any inconvenience - we'll confirm the new dates for Ledbury Theatre, Chelmarsh, Brilley and Millenium Hall (Preston-on-Stour) in the next few days.

10.10.09 - Autumn Tour of Villages!

Our series of autumn dates kicked off at the Tewkesbury Festival a few of weeks ago, moving on to a couple of days in the fine lands of Dorset to begin our Autumn Tour of Villages, and continued with four nights up in sunny Yorkshire last weekend.

You can check out the full tour dates remaining over at the Gig Guide, starting this coming Thursday with three nights in back in Devon after last year's great welcome, with the bandwagon rolling on to various venues in Shropshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire in November.

You can also join us over at our Facebook pages for photos of our adventures in 2009, including the infamous Flamborough Test Match, Ana singing to some rather disturbed cows in Spanish, and Louis' various shopping trips to the motorway services at 3am ... http://www.tgcollective.com/facebook

07.06.09 - 'So are you ever going to record a new album?!' ...

The world must be needing a new supply of table-mats or something to prop-up that wobbly table, as everyone kindly keeps asking about our new album (admittedly we've been promising one for the last 15 months) ...

Happily, after trawling the castles and forests of Birmingham, we've now found a great studio on our doorstep in sunny Brum with a lovely live room (apparently where the original Thunderbirds theme was recorded!).  After a very busy spring gig-wise in the UK and Ireland, we're playing just the one gig over the summer, at the Hebden Bridge Festival, so we can finally get round to recording in June and July.  Plenty more performances on the way in the Autumn (hop along to the Gig Guide), and no promises, but we might just have something to fix that table come September ...

And what happened to your website? ...

Ah yes, another confession ... we were playing with a new design, and got rather waylaid with very boring technicalities, and a little lost in the blogosphere.  As you've probably noticed, we're all back up and running, and we'll have a shiny new site online in the next few months, along with some very jolly photos of our spring tours around the UK (mostly involving Louis' suggestive poses in various Welcome Break Service Stations).

      28.04.09 - Hey TC! ...

We're happier than an MP wielding a brand new a receipt book to be welcoming the wonderful percussionist and Cajón player Tom Chapman on board, performing with us for the first time tomorrow evening at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival (sponsored by that lovely tasteless lager Budvar, we're reliably informed) ...

Already busier than that mystical entity that is the Commons' Expenses Office, Tom plays with the great folk ensemble, The Old Dance School, and also with violin maestro Joe Broughton's new project, the Urban Folk Quartet.  Folk aside, his jazz project, Found Objects, features our very own Percy Pursglove and the brilliant Neil Yates on trumpet.  Top Cajón maker Paolo De Gregorio also sends Tom free Cajóns, even when he breaks them, so we're sorted for spare chopping boards for the foreseeable future.  (Click here to find out a little more about the Cajón, in case you still thought it looked like an upside-down speaker).

      14.02.09 - UK Spring Tour ...

If your Valentines Day wasn't already looking bad enough, we come forth with news of our Spring Tour ...

We kick off in March, with a series of gigs in Cheshire, before heading down to The Stables on Friday 13th.  We hop over to Ireland in April - Dublin, Omagh and Derry - then rumble up to Helmsley in Yorkshire, finishing off with a return to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, at the Pittville Pump Room, the Wirksworth Festival, and a venture down to Hampshire and Forest Arts in early May.

Full listings across at the imaginatively-entitled Gig Guide, and you can also download the tour flyer here.

19.09.08 - Birmingham tickets now on sale ...

Tickets for TGC's performance on October 25th, at The Patrick Centre, Birmingham Hippodrome, are now available online and from the Hippodrome Box Office - 0844 338 5000.

Advance tickets are priced at £10 and £8.50 for various concessions ... advanced booking recommended!

      01.08.08 - Autumn Tour ...

TGC's voyages around the UK this autumn will take in nearly twenty dates between September and November, much to the dismay of motorway service stations awaiting a visit from Louis' at 3am ...

The autumn tour kicks off at the Wirksworth Festival, before visiting Ireland and Northern Ireland, ending with the opening show of the tenth Open House Festival in Belfast.  Back in sunny England, TGC are performing for four consecutive nights in Devon, three in Cambridgeshire, with further gigs at the South Bank Centre, London, plus Birmingham, Hull and Essex.

With support from Jazz Services and Arts Council England, click here and here to download the flyers for the Autumn tour dates, with full info also on the Gig Guide.

20.03.08 - Cheltenham Sold Out / Symphony Hall Date Change

The TGC performance at this year's Cheltenham Jazz Festival in May has virtually sold out - only a few restricted-view tickets are now left at the Festival Box Office.   Big thanks for your support!

Meanwhile, the scheduled Commuter Jazz gig at Birmingham Symphony Hall on May 30th has now been re-arranged to Friday 18th July, as we find ourselves performing in the backstreets of Barcelona.  However, you can still find us at Birmingham Town Hall in early May, and at the Tewkesbury Spring Festival towards the end of the month.  See the aptly entitled Gigs page for full info on all upcoming shows.
